The trial of a former Warrick County teacher got underway with jury selection on Tuesday.

Former Boonville Middle School teacher, Andrew Emmons, is accused of taking video of young girls inside a school locker room, a faculty restroom, and inside a family member's home.

The defense tells 14 News that Emmons offered to plead guilty to some of the 42 felony counts against him, but we are told that offer was rejected by the county prosecutor.

Defense Attorney Anthony Long says the two sides are close to a jury in the alleged voyeurism and child exploitation case. He says an offer to plead guilty was filed Tuesday morning.

"He's guilty of voyeurism and the state, we think he's guilty of, at least as it relates to the middle school students, two counts for two separate films. The state wants to make 16 out of it and that's where we are," Long says.

Emmons also faces 16 counts of child exploitation, in which Long says Emmons is not guilty of. Jury selection will continue Wednesday morning.
