KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

Cases of Respiratory Syncytial Virus are up in Kentucky.

Pediatricians say it is common in babies and toddlers and usually occurs in the spring and fall.

Pediatrician Dr. Justin Morgan said there are some things you can do to prevent it.

"Hand hygiene is key, so making sure everybody washes their hands really well especially if there's lots of coughing or runny nose or congestion try to keep your kids away from other sick kids," said Dr. Morgan.

Officials said it is coinciding with flu season this year.
