This weekend, there's a special dedication happening in Downtown Evansville.
A new memorial, remembering the 1977 University of Evansville plane crash, will be unveiled at the Ford Center.
Everyone is invited to come Sunday morning for the dedication.
It's phase two of the Hilliard Lyons Corridor of Champions, a memorial wall remembering those who died in that crash.
Phase one of the Corridor of Champions was up shortly after the Ford Center opened, but organizers say they wanted this memorial wall to be really special and that took a little extra time and fundraising.
Among the speakers at Sunday's dedication, Stafford Stephenson. Aces fans will remember he was an assistant coach for that 1977 team who was not on the plane that night.
The wall itself is about 20 feet long and we're told it is a museum-quality exhibit.
One end tells the story of the season, there are action shots of the team and pictures of those who were on board.
The other end tells the story of the tragedy and middle ties things together with a quote from UE's president at the time and a weeping basketball light display.
"We would like the memorial to be a permanent way to tell the story of the team, but also to inspire people in the future to do what they might have done had fate not cut their journey short," said Kathy Kleindorfer, Roberts Stadium Foundation.
The dedication is set for 11:45 a.m. in the atrium of the Ford Center just before the Aces take on Bradley at one o'clock. You do need a basketball ticket to attend.
They are $5 Sunday and 14 WFIE's own Mike Blake will be emceeing the event.
The dedication isn't expected to take very long, about 15 or 20 minutes.
Organizers say several family members of those who were on that plane are coming, including some relatives of Head Coach Bobby Watson, who was in his first season at UE when the crash happened.
If anyone wants to go, but may not be able to pay for a ticket, Kathy says the Roberts Stadium Foundation can help.
