Bridge work causes new routes for school

Posted: Updated:

Bridge work near Niagara Elementary School in Henderson County will have parents taking a new route to school.

Starting Monday, parents who have kids that go to Niagara Elementary School are going to have to find a new route to school.

Highway 136 between Upper Deleware Road and the school will be closing so work can begin on a small bridge west of the school's parking lot.

The Henderson County School District has notified all bus riders and parents of the closure.

14 News spoke with some parents who say it's going to be a big inconvenience.

There are alternative routes however. From Henderson, take 41 South, past 136. Then take a left on T Royster Road, left on North Pleasant Valley, and then left on Highway 136.

Or you can take 136 and take a left on Upper Deleware Road. From there, go right on 416 and then right on to 136 towards the school.

Bridge work is expected to last through the remainder of the school year.'
