(CNN) - A federal judge strikes down North Carolina's law that links ultrasounds to abortions.
According to the law, an ultrasound had to be performed on a woman who wanted to terminate her pregnancy.
Afterwards medical personnel showed the photo of the fetus to the woman and described it in detail.
That was done, whether or not the woman had requested the ultrasound.
In her ruling, Judge Catherine Eagles said the Supreme Court never forced health providers to do such actions.
Supporters say this help lives.
Critics, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), applauded the decision.
