Chesterfield man arrested for deadly Richmond hit and run

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Chesterfield man faces felony hit and run charges in connection with a deadly crash on Chamberlayne Avenue Thursday.

Barry Mallory, 51, was driving on Chamberlayne Avenue around 9:40 p.m. when he hit a man trying to cross at the intersection with Westwood Avenue, according to Richmond Police.

Mallory drove off but was spotted driving by the crime scene around midnight, police said. Officers noticed damage to his car matching an impact with a pedestrian and pulled him over.

According to Sheriff Michael Wade, Mallory was once a deputy with the Henrico Sheriff's Office and left the department under questionable circumstances 15 years ago.
