MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

Authorities in Muhlenberg County are investigating after a dog was found wandering the streets with a bullet in her neck.

Doctors removed the bullet that traveled through the neck of 3-year-old Cricket and was still lodged under her skin.

"She's very lucky. If it had been at close point, the bullet that was used it probably would have shattered her," said Miriam Patterson, who is with the Muhlenberg Humane Society.

It's hard to imagine the happy go lucky dog had a near death experience just 48 hours ago.

"She's so happy. I think she's just happy to be alive. I think she's happy that she has people with hands on her," Patterson said.

Doctors say will monitor Cricket, but expect her to make a full recovery.

If you would like to help or possibly adopt Cricket next week, you can call the Muhlenberg Humane Society at 270-338-6940 or visit their Facebook page here.
