Boil advisory issued & another lifted for Evansville

Posted: Updated:

Another boil advisory is issued in Evansville.

There was a water main break on Broadway Avenue. The area affected is Broadway between Hillside Drive and Frey Road and all of Hillside Drive.

The water conservation request, prompted by numerous water main breaks last week, has ended for Evansville water customers.

Authorities say the problem was due to an aging infrastructure.

There are 1000 miles of water lines in the city. Of those miles, 600 are old, cast iron pipes. Some as old as 70 years.

The water filtration plant itself is more than 115 years old.

Tuesday morning, we received word from Evansville Sewer and Utility that one of those boil advisories is now lifted.

The area was:

  • Vann Ave. from Sweetser Ave. South to Pollack Ave.
  • Conlin Ave. from Vann Ave. West to Southeast Blvd.
  • Southeast Blvd. from McConnel Ave. east to the dead-end.
