Evansville woman says service dog was stolen from van

Posted: Updated:

An Evansville woman is on a desperate search for her service dog.

Penni Copeland says her Chihuahua, which helps her with daily tasks, was stolen from her van. She says the dog helps remind her to take her medication and also helps with her depression.

Sunday is the second day she has been looking for her dog. She has been posting signs around town, hoping someone will recognize it.

Copeland says she was on the south side running a quick errand and she left her dog in the car. When she returned, it was gone.

"Someone took her out of my vehicle, in less than four minutes," Copeland says.

She says there's a reward of $300 for anyone who returns her dog. If you have any information on the missing Chihuahua, you're asked to call Evansville police.
