Boil advisories in place for several areas in Evansville

The Evansville Water Department tells 14 News that the right hand lane of US 41 between Lynch and St. Gerorge is closed because of a water main break.

Officials say Evansville has a seen a record number of water line breaks in the past week and some areas have been placed under a precautionary boil advisory.

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility has several active boil advisories at this time:

-Vann Avenue between Sweetser and Pollack Avenue. They say it includes Conlin Avenue west off of Vann to Southeast Boulevard, and then west to McConnel Avenue.

-Sweetser Avenue between Lodge and Weinback. That includes the 1700 block of South Norman Avenue and the 1700 block of South Frederick Avenue off of Sweetser.

-East Indiana Street between Fares Avenue and Harlan Avenue

-Vogel Road from St. James Blvd. East to Villa Drive and Ruston Avenue North to Tennessee Street

-North Evans from Pfeiffer Road to Peters Drive East to North Denby to dead-end

-East Mill Road from 800-831 E. Mill Road and from 801-857 Harman Court

-Washington Avenue from South Lombard Ave to South Villa Drive

-Stanley Avenue from 521 to 621

Officials advise customers in the affected areas to bring all cooking and drinking water to a complete boil for five minutes before using. They ask customers to continue to boil all cooking and drinking water until notified that it is no longer necessary.

Residents are still being asked to report any breaks to the water utility's dispatch at (812) 421-2130.
