The family of a former YMCA board member, the late Earl Wilson, had decided to give back to the community by renovating the Youth Development Center in downtown Evansville.
14 News spoke to the Wilson family at Saturday evening's ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new center has a lot of fun and interactive features to both educate and keep children in shape.
Beyond the fancy new technology the center has, it's a safe place where children can go after school to grow and learn.
Downtown YMCA Executive Crystal Paroyan said they have added two new rooms to the YMCA: a gaming room, and an activities room.
Judging by the center's popularity on the first night, the center should be the place to be after school for years to come.
Crystal said the center is for ages five to 14.
It can be rented out for parties and other get together's.
