Vehicles collide, deputies credit one driver for saving other

Posted: Updated:

Two vehicles collided in Dubois County Friday evening and authorities say the quick action of one driver saved the other driver's life.

Officials say a car driven by 86-year-old Norma Daughtery, of Huntingburg, collided with a car driven by 27-year-old Jesse Roberts, of French Lick, on East Cuzco Norton Road around 6:00 Friday evening.

Roberts told Dubois County deputies the other vehicle was on fire and he realized the driver was trapped. He was able to free her, and in the opinion of investigators, saved Daughtery's life.

Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
