City of Evansville updates water situation

Posted: Updated:

Some positive news from Evansville Mayor, Lloyd Winnecke, about the city's water situation.

Winnecke says the Water & Sewer Utility is in a restoration phase and all systems are back on line.

Conservation has helped with water pressure, and the filtration beds are processing water from the river.

Allen Mounts, director of the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility, says more water main breaks will still occur so residents and businesses are still being encouraged to conserve water through the weekend.

City crews have responded to a record number of 60 water main breaks, with 16 being actively addressed as of this morning.

Residents are still being asked to report any breaks to the water utility's dispatch at (812) 421-2130.
