EPD needing information after late night shooting

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) – A teenager was shot in the leg late Thursday night, and police need your help in finding the suspects.

According to Evansville Police, 19-year-old Deriontai Mathis, got off a city bus at Lawndale and began walking south on Green River Road and Washington Avenue to a nearby apartment.

Police say a dark colored car pulled up and started firing at him. Mathis was hit in the leg, and taken to a nearby hospital by two women he did not know.

Police say the women were gone from the hospital by the time they arrived, and Mathis was unable to give any other information about the shooting.

Police say about 3-4 shots were fired.
