LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Police arrested a Louisville man after hotel guests reported his 2-year-old outside with no shoes or coat on Wednesday.

According to Louisville Metro Police, Andrew Denham, 34, and his daughter were staying at the Ramada Inn on Zorn Avenue. Another hotel guest reported a child wandering outside of the building without shoes or a jacket on.

Officers said they located a vehicle in the parking lot with a car seat and connected it to room 109. When they knocked on the door, Denham was apparently passed out and wouldn't get up to answer the door.

Hotel management used a key to enter the room and officers woke Denham, who was fully clothed. When the officers asked about the child, Denham told them he didn't know where she was and the last time he saw her, she was lying in bed.

The arrest report states that three bottles of vodka were in reach of the child and another bottle of vodka was found on the bed.

Police believe the little girl had wandered outside and could not get back in the hotel room.

Denham was arrested and is being charged with wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
