The City of Huntingburg has a blueprint to upgrade its downtown district.
Mayor Denny Spinner says they want to make upgrades that enhance the town's infrastructure and make downtown Huntingburg a destination location. He says the downtown revitalization could include new housing.
The plans are being developed by development concepts and commonwealth engineers. The city wants to upgrade the 117-year-old Fourth Street water main, possibly implement a new downtown park, and add affordable housing. Mayor spinner says downtown Huntingburg is already a strong component of the town, but that it's important to explore even stronger opportunities.
"We have a great variety of things to do downtown, but there are some opportunities that we may be missing, that will allow our community to grow and really provide a better quality of life for our citizens," the mayor says.
Spinner says none of the plans have been approved yet. If you missed the public hearing Wednesday night at the Old Town Hall, the plans will be published on the town's website.
