Teen killed, others facing charges after deadly White Co. wreck

An Illinois teen is dead and others are facing charges after a fatal wreck in White County.

Illinois State Police say it happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

State Police say 20-year-old Cameron Gunter, of Carmi, was driving a pickup truck westbound on White County Road 2550N, about ½ mile west of White County Road 750E, when he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck left the roadway and over-turned onto its side in the ditch on the south side of the roadway.

Troopers say 18-year-old Gregory Dillman, of Carmi, was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the crash scene by the White County Coroner.

Gunter was taken Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered in the wreck.

State Police say none of the occupants of the truck were wearing seatbelts.

After treatment at the hospital, Gunter was taken to the White County Jail and charged with DUI, Driving While License Suspended, Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, Gift / Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to Persons under Age 21, and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Troopers say the other passengers in the truck 19-year-old Brittanie Garrison, of McLeansboro, 18-year-old Kenley Masterson, of Carmi and a 17-year-old juvenile were taken to the White County Jail and each charged with Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

State Police say additional Charges are pending and that the crash remains under investigation.
