MCLEAN CO., KY (WFIE) -

When everyone else sought shelter from the bitter cold Sunday night, a McLean County husband and wife spent the night outside to raise awareness for kids in need of warm clothing.

"Yeah, I could definitely snuggle with that fire right now," said Molly Eric.

With temperatures this cold, the great outdoors would likely be the last place you'd want to sleep.

"Early this morning around 5:00, I felt something weird around my beard and nose," said Heath Eric. "There was ice on my nose and ice around my beard just from my breath. That was under the covers."

But sub-zero temps seemed like the perfect opportunity for Heath and Molly to roll out their sleeping bags and make a statement.

The two posted a Facebook status saying they'd donate at least five coats to the Green River Outreach Family Resource Center if their status received 500 likes. That's when things really took off.

"All of a sudden our friends and fans were messaging us and commenting, saying, 'We want to donate coats. We want to donate money so that the cause can be greater,'" Molly shared.

Heath and Molly say their status has more than a thousand likes now. Since they're also musicians, they're going to play a free concert to help raise even more awareness and money for disadvantaged kids.

But that outdoor concert will have to wait for spring.
