Burst water pipe causes damage at Verizon store

Posted: Updated:

A water pipe burst causing damage a Verizon store on South Green River Road in Evansville.

An employee tells 14 News that the pipe started leaking and it kept getting worse. While the employee says he was calling his boss, the ceiling collapsed.

"I was standing here doing the normal everyday thing and roof started leaking, started getting worse and worse. Next thing you know, the whole thing started coming down and waters going everywhere. They just started getting accumulated with water and started coming down one by one," employee Michael Jordan said. "We called the fire department because we thought it would be a fire hazard. We tried to get as much inventory out as we could."

The fire department shut the water off. The store was closed and there's no word on if it will reopen on Tuesday.
