Owensboro Red Cross in need of donations

Posted: Updated:

The American Red Cross in Owensboro tells 14 News that they need help getting back on their feet after assisting victims of last weekend's apartment fire in Calhoun.

The Red Cross says the fire was the biggest disaster they responded to in 2013. They helped more than 10 families with food, clothing, and a place to stay. More cash donations are needed to help people impacted by future disaster

"Any amount. Everyone's ability is specific to their situation and we can put a dollar to work just like we can put $100,000 to work," said Melissa Troutman with the Red Cross.

The Red Cross says you can donate online, over the phone, or by swinging by the office on Third Street.

The deputy state fire marshal told us earlier this week the cause appears to be accidental.
