2014 will be the last year in office for current Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams.
If you've logged onto the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's website, you've noticed it was renovated this year.
Also in 2013, the sheriff says his office was able to trim $100,000 from the jail's medical budget.
He also says his office has not seen a spike in any specific area of crime for 2013. Williams says the stats on meth crime for 2013 aren't in yet, but he didn't see a big reduction in that activity.
The sheriff shared that deputies also got body cams for the first time in 2013. There are now about 120 cameras in the fleet on deputies on the streets and in the jail. He says 2014 will continue to be an evaluation phase for the cameras.
"Looking to see if the equipment we have is going to meet our needs or if we need to provide different kinds of equipment for different. We think it's going to be successful. Think they're going to prove to be valuable, invaluable tools, not only in dealing with complaints against our personnel, but also solving crime.
