'No DUI Kentucky' app shares helpful New Year's advice

KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

Law enforcement from across the Tri-State will be out New Year's Eve looking for drunk drivers.

The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and KSP have developed a 'No DUI Kentucky' app for your smartphone.

The app features a one-touch dial feature to report drunk drivers, a list of local taxi services, a blood alcohol concentration calculator, as well as an impairment goggles indicator.

"According to government data, during Christmas and New Year's, 40 percent of all traffic related deaths involve alcohol which is an alarming number. We're trying to get the message out there, if your party or functions include alcohol, please don't drive," said Stu Recke with KSP.

KSP troopers say they will be out in full force Tuesday night on popular roadways and high traffic areas.
