Evansville councilman explores potential run for mayor

An Evansville City Councilman told 14 News he is forming an exploratory committee to run for mayor in 2015.

John Friend, the fifth-ward democrat, also wants to be the next city council president.

The current president, Connie Robinson, said she plans to step down to focus on her business.

The council will take a vote on the council presidency on January 6.

Friend is the current Finance Chairman. If he is named president, Friend said he would be able to appoint his successor.
