We've reported on thefts of copper and aluminum to sell for scrap, and now a Gibson County woman is under arrest for attempting to steal items off a fire truck.
Dispatchers received a call, shortly after midnight, about an older model fire truck sitting behind the Buckskin Fire Department. The caller wasn't sure if the truck was supposed to be there.
When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Amber Reiner trying to flee the scene. They discovered they had interrupted a breaking-in and entering in progress.
Deputies recovered a two-inch water meter, a five-inch water meter, four brass nozzles, and other miscellaneous scrap metal that was valued at more than $1,150.
Reiner was charged with Theft and Breaking-in and Entering.
Also under arrest is 36-year-old Ruth Robling of Oakland City for possession of methamphetamines.
Both women remain in custody at the Gibson County Jail.
