City officials in Henderson have named a new acting police chief after outgoing chief, John Reed, announced his resignation earlier this week.
Major David Piller became Acting Chief of Police at 5:00 p.m. today.
Major Piller has been with the Henderson Police Department for 24 years.
The City announced he would take over as chief after John Reed announced on Wednesday that he was resigning.
Piller says he wants to maintain the standard of service the people of Henderson have come to know and expect.
"I'm very excited for this opportunity. We have an outstanding department with a bunch of wonderful officers and employees that work here. I have no doubts this will go very smoothly and everybody will continue to perform at the level we expect from them," said Piller.
Piller says he will officially apply for the chief of police position when it's posted.
