A three-year old Florida boy is doing well after undergoing a life-saving five-organ transplant two months ago.
Adonis Ortiz was born with a congenital birth defect in which the intestines protrude through a opening in the abdominal wall.
He had his first surgery when he was only three months old and several other procedures followed.
In October, Adonis received a new liver, pancreas, stomach and small and large intestines at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
"When they told me it was gastroschisis, it was kind of a relief because I was like I have seen patients they were like 18-19 years old and they were fine. So, I was like why can't my baby be the same?" said Aracelis Ortiz, the boy's mother.
Doctors said the boy is expected to make a full recovery.
