INDOT worker seriously injured in Vanderburgh County

Indiana State Police are investigating a traffic incident which put an INDOT worker in the hospital.

INDOT had closed the driving lane of SR 62 near Boehne Camp Road while rock was being put in a ditch adjacent to the westbound lanes.

Shortly before noon, troopers say a one-foot diameter rock rolled from the closed driving lane into the passing lane.

A grain truck traveling west hit the rock, which then bounced back toward the driving lane.

The rock hit INDOT employee, 48-year-old Michael Chasteen of Evansville.

He was taken to Deaconess Hospital with a serious leg injury.
