MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A 13-year-old boy died after sustaining injuries from a car accident caused by an accused drunk driver.

Hezekiah Keyon Moss, 13, suffered serious head trauma and was taken by helicopter to The MED in critical condition. Moss died at The MED Sunday afternoon after the crash near the intersection of Hacks Cross Road and Meadow Vale Drive.

Germantown Middle School officials made the somber announcement to the student body Monday that the seventh-grade classmate died over the weekend.

A photo from Facebook describes Moss as a wonderful, well-loved boy who was involved in his church at Citadel of Deliverance COGIC.

According to investigators, Quincy Johnson, 27, was driving northbound on Hacks Cross Road when he blacked out and crossed into a lane of oncoming traffic. The car he hit was carrying four people, including the 13-year-old boy and an 18-month-old baby.

The other three passengers suffered injures. One family member is still struggling for her life at The MED and undergoing a series of surgeries. Another family member is also recovering, while the 18-month-old baby received only a scratch.

Quincy Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. He appeared to be intoxicated, which was later proven by a breath test when he blew a .083, according to police.

By mid-day Monday, Johnson was out of jail, free after posting a $50,000 bond.

"This is a very sad day for a lot of people," said Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Chip Washington. "Obviously drinking and driving don't mix just like oil and water don't mix. And again it can often lead to very tragic consequences and folks need to think before they do things like this."

In addition to DUI and reckless driving, Johnson faces one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

The teen's mom and uncle held a news conference at the church. Read more about that here.
