Selling Evansville's New Convention Hotel

As we first told you yesterday on 14News at 4pm,  Evansville Mayor, Lloyd Winnecke, is in Indianapolis today to launch a sales initiative for the new downtown hotel.

Mayor Winnecke and Bob Warren, Executive Director of the Evansville Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be attending the Indiana Society of Association of Executives (ISAE) Star Awards tonight.

Winnecke will make comments and a brief presentation showcasing Evansville and the new downtown Hilton by DoubleTree Hotel & Convention Center as a convention destination.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau has told the ISAE, a group that represents all associations throughout the state, that the hotel will be built. 

The CVB says tonight's event is the first big step for the City, which is trying to lure conventions and events to Evansville.

Construction on the 12 story, 253 room DoubleTree Hotel & Convention Center could begin as early as next month.
