Owensboro police say that anytime they have to respond to a call that requires a lot of police, like the bomb threat, it could tie up other units that could be going to other emergencies.
Authorities say they were called to Owensboro High School just after 11:30 Wednesday morning for a bomb threat.
Owensboro Public Schools say students and staff were moved to the gym as police searched the school. Police found nothing suspicious, but say they will be looking for whoever is responsible for making the threat.
This is one of many over the past month that police and deputies have had to respond to. Owensboro Public Schools says they remind students of the consequences for making threats against the school.
Police are warning students and the public that this type of threat is taken serious and is a felony.
"We are now looking at terroristic threatening first degree and that's because of the actual threat that was made of for that bomb to be on scene," said Officer Michael Hathaway with Owensboro police.
Detectives are still investigating and following up on leads. If you have any information, you can contact the Owensboro Police Department or call Crime Stoppers.
