Crews still working to clear neighborhood roads

Posted: Updated:

Nearly a week after a large ice and snowstorm hit the Tri-State, road crews in Vanderburgh County say they've just about cleared all the city and county roads.

Major roadways like Diamond, the Lloyd Expressway, and I-164 have been cleared and are very accessible now, but county and city garages are still working to get neighborhoods cleared.

County Highway Superintendent Patrick Seib says the vast majority of the county's roads have been cleared. He says they're just now wrapping things up on the hilly areas of the county, since those roads are much more difficult to deal with.

If you live in a subdivision, you know your neighborhood roads are still very icy. Seib says that's because road crews make neighborhoods their last priority, as main roadways involve a lot more drivers.

Seib says crews will be going through neighborhoods over the next couple of days, so hopefully it'll be a little easier for you to get in and out of your neighborhood.

The weather is expected to remain pretty calm until Saturday. Crews will be ready for whatever happens then.
