Benefit concert raises money for Military with PTSD

Posted: Updated:

A benefit concert took place at KC's Timeout Lounge with all the funds going to Military with PTSD.

It's a non-profit organization that educates about the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder on veterans and their families.

Country music singer Joe Bachman was the headliner on Tuesday night, and the money raised from the $10 cover will go towards the cause.

"One of the things that we are doing is we're starting a hotline for spouses and for veterans that is peer-to-peer, where people who have lived through it and went through it. On the other line you'll get someone who has lived this life with post-traumatic stress disorder. He's a military brat actually. His dad did 20 years in the Army," said Shawn Gourley, the co-founder for Military with PTSD.

Military with PTSD hopes to raise around $3,000 from Tuesday's concert.
