Winter weather advisory
There is a winter weather advisory for Dubois and Perry counties until 9 this morning, but there is snow for a good chunk of the tri-state this morning. Accumulations will range from just a less than an inch in the Evansville area to around an inch north of Interstate 64. Temps will remain well below normal all week with daily highs near 30 and nightly lows in the teens. Another weather system arrives Friday night...it will start with rain and then change over to snow on Saturday before tapering off by Saturday night.
Another slick commute this morning. We'll be live again to check out road conditions around the region on Sunrise, and also talk to law enforcement folks to get the latest on trouble spots in their districts.
Many area schools are shut down again today due to the slick roadways. We'll have the latest that come into the newsroom this morning.
There is joy, celebration and rain in the air in South Africa today at the site of the massive memorial to honor Nelson Mandela. Crowds converged on FNB Stadium in Soweto, the Johannesburg township that was a stronghold of support for the anti-apartheid struggle. Some 100 heads of state and other dignitaries are expected. President Barack Obama will be among the speakers. We'll have live look-in's on Sunrise.
So stay safe and we'll see you on Sunrise.
