This weekend's winter weather is causing delays for the U.S. Postal Service and many people around the Tri-State are awaiting missed deliveries.
We're told the mail carriers are out and about, trying to get as much mail as they can to customers.
Postal Service Supervisor Dana Powell says any time there is snow or ice on the ground, there's a chance mail carriers will be physically unable to get to some mailboxes. That leads to missed deliveries and a pile-up of mail.
Powell says the best thing people can do is shovel a clear path to their mailbox and try to stay patient, especially during the holiday season.
"You know some customers have come in frustrated, understandably so. Our number one priority is the safety of our mail carriers and that is the way we continue delivering the mail on a daily basis," Powell said.
Powell says anyone with any questions or concerns regarding mail delivery can go to any post office location or just give them a call.
