Cocktail wars hit Evansville

Posted: Updated:

Whether you like your martini shaken or stirred, Cocktail Wars is about to be waged for the first time in Evansville.

It's a contest for who can make the best drink.

Five mixologists from Phoenix Nightclub, Bokeh Lounge, Backstage, Babel and Lamasco will be competing on stage in front of a panel of celebrity judges.

They'll actually be mixing their best cocktails while you watch, then you get to vote for your favorite drink.

A couple local rappers, including Sean Little will perform.

In between performances they'll be auctioning off bottles of liquor.

The event is being put on by Dishcrawl, who is partnering with the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana.

A portion of the night's profits will go to the Arts Council.

Dishcrawl Ambassadors say if you like American Idol, you'll love Cocktail Wars.

"Because not only do you get to see the celebrity judges that we have and the contestants, but you also get to try their drinks. So unlike American Idol, you get to sing along with them, but you don't get to try their cocktails that they're making so that's going to be a fun part about our event," says Michael Armanno, with Dishcrawl.

The event is happening next Tuesday, December 10th.

It will take place at Phoenix Nightclub, which is in the same location where ICON used to be just off of Green River Road.

Doors open at 7 o'clock.

Admission is free as long as you have the code, which is "cocktailwarsevv".
