HENDERSON, KY (WFIE)- The 6th Annual Career and Technical Education Open House is scheduled to take place Thursday at Henderson County High School.
The event's theme and purpose is "Growing Community and Educational Partnerships."
From 11a.m. until 3:25p.m., students can meet with close to 60 Henderson County businesses in the school's auxiliary gym.
Businesses will explain how their daily operations work and what they expect of future employees.
Then, from 4p.m. until 7p.m., the public is invited to tour Career & Technical Education Unit (CTE) classrooms to speak with staff members and learn more about available programs.
They include educational opportunities in the areas of Electrical, Pre Engineering, Agriculture, Automotive Technology, Information Technology, Business, Marketing, Construction, Visual Communication, Welding, Manufacturing, Criminal Law, Health Services, Nursing, Child Development and Commercial Foods pathways.
Victor Doty, the District CTE Director, says partnerships between the high school, businesses and the community have several objectives: to give Henderson County businesses a chance to learn what the Career and Technical Education can offer them, to give CTE students a chance to find out what businesses do and what would be required to work for them, to give parents and the public an opportunity to learn about existing Career Pathways, and to give the high school a way to get input from existing businesses about what they need from the school.
