Warrick Co. schools awarded thousands from lawsuit settlement

Posted: Updated:

The Warrick County School District has been awarded $376,000 from a failed teachers union insurance plan lawsuit settlement.

The superintendent of Warrick County Schools, Brad Schneider, says that money will be used exactly as it was intended to be used before all of this happened.

It will go to reducing the health insurance premiums of the employees. Schneider says the money was generated by the employees, so all of it will be going back to them.

He describes the situation as "bittersweet' and says most of the employees are thankful to see some of the money, but they are still disappointed that they lost half of it.

"We'll meet with our teacher leaders and we'll discuss what options are available. You know, how to equitably split up the money again between our employees, certified non-certified. We have not had those discussions, but we'll have some ideas and I'm sure they'll have some ideas. We'll just sit down and determine which is best," Schneider said.

Schneider tells 14 News that check should be in the mail to him by next Friday.
