Majority of Tri-State under Winter Storm Warning

The majority of the Tri-State has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning beginning Thursday night and continuing through Friday.

14 News meteorologist say temperatures will be dropping through the day on Thursday, but should remain above freezing until Thursday night.  

Here's a look at the current timeline:

- Expect periods of rain on Thursday
- Rain changes over to sleet and freezing rain Thursday evening from northwest to southeast
- Freezing rain and sleet change to snow and sleet on Friday, again from northwest to southeast

Our meteorologists say they are expecting 3-5" of snow/sleet accumulation from just south of the Ohio River northward by Friday evening, and 5-8" of snow/sleet over our northwest counties in Illinois and along US 50 in Indiana. Ice and snow accumulations of 1-3" are most likely over Western Kentucky. If temps stay a bit above freezing, they'll see mainly rain

Road crews is all areas will be preparing roads and will have salt and anti-icing agents ready when road conditions become hazardous.
