This holiday season, an Evansville family is grateful to have three healthy boys who keep them very busy.
6-year-old Gabe Wittmer loves to play hockey, takes piano lessons, and holds his own against his two older brothers.
But when he was born, Gabe spent two months at Riley Children's Hospital being treated for a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. At one point, his parents weren't sure if he would survive.
However, Gabe is thriving and the family credits his treatment at Riley.
"It's amazing the personal connections. The people there. They just care. They're not just there to get a paycheck. They care about what they do. They care about their patients. They care about the families, as a whole because they know how that benefits the patients as well. So you get connected to the other families that are going through similar experiences and we're still in touch with a couple of those families," Gabe's mom, Peggy Wittmer said.
