I-164 is back open on Tuesday night after a semi carrying a load of coal ran off the roadway.
Officials say the semi, owned by Gibco, was carrying a load of coal and heading south when it went off the right shoulder, blew through a barricade, and ended up down an embankment. No other cars were involved in the accident.
The driver of the semi, 26-year-old Justin Huston, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway Patrol and the Indiana Department of Transportation were called in due to the guard rail being destroyed.
Officials are investigating to determine the cause of the accident, but they say a tire blow-out could be to blame.
Some travellers waited hours as the truck was pulled back to the roadway and the traffic to clear.
