EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is officially opposing the proposed constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage.
Mayor Winnecke says the amendment was unnecessarily diverse, and believes the state should focus on fostering economic development and create a high quality of life for those in Evansville.
Winnecke goes on to encourage Indiana's General Assembly to look for alternative ways to solve the same-sex marriage issue.
The Evansville City Council will also take up a resolution to support Winnecke in opposing the proposed constitutional amendment. City Council is expected to vote on the resolution Monday December 9th.
