A professor at the University of Connecticut was arrested Monday after police said he was responsible for getting drunk and then urinating on high-end cars before ripping off their mirrors in Greenwich.
The incident was reported in October when officers were called to Lafayette Court after numerous vehicles were vandalized.
An investigation was launched and police said Gabriel Fenteany, of Vernon, was visiting a local resident and became intoxicated. Then after leaving that friend, police said Fenteany walked through the parking lots and began to urinate, spit and kick vehicles.
He's also accused of ripping the side view mirrors off of seven motor vehicles including a BMW, two Audis, two Lexuses and a Honda Civic.
"Somebody living in our car had terrible damage," said neighbor Liana Nwonie.
Fenteany, who has a Ph.D. and a postdoctorate from Harvard, turned himself in to UConn police on the Storrs campus Monday. Fenteany was charged with criminal mischief and breach of peace.
Eyewitness News visited Fenteany's residence on Tuesday, but no one was home at the time.
As for Fenteany's job, he was placed on administrative leave from UConn and will not be allowed back on campus until the investigation is over.
Fenteany was given a court date of Dec. 9.
