Police: Man tried to use officer's flashlight as weapon during arrest

MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

A man is arrested after police say he was found with thousands worth in pot.

Madisonville Police say they got a call Sunday evening around 7 about a suspicious person at the City Park.

When officers arrived at the scene they say they could smell the odor of marijuana near the Pro Shop.

Police say 45-year-old John Jowers was found hiding under a nearby bench and was under the influence of marijuana.

MPD says when officers tried to arrest Jowers he resisted and tried to use an officer's flashlight as a weapon.

Police say a large of amount of marijuana was also discovered in plain view and say Jowers himself told officers he bought it for $2,500.

Jowers was arrested and taken to the Hopkins County Jail. He is facing several charges including resisting arrested, possession of marijuana and menacing.
