Walk through Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights this Monday evening

Posted: Updated:

The 20th annual Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights is aglow, and this Monday night you'll be able to see it at your own pace- walking.

The only walk through of the year will be December 2nd, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Garvin Park.

Walk-through attendees should use the main entrance to Garvin Park at the intersection of Morgan and North Main.

Upon entering, vehicles will be directed where to park. The walk-through is being organized by volunteer group "Team J-Man Gives" to benefit Easter Seals.

For that night only, the Fantasy of Lights will be closed to cars.

Admission is $5 per person. Kids 2 years old and younger are free.

A total of 62 displays were installed over the past 3 weeks by volunteers from several local electrical unions.

As you're walking through, you'll notice a new animated Jack-in-the-Box and Toys display.

The largest piece of this new three-part display is 11.5' X 17.' The entire display is made up of more than 1,000 bulbs.

One of the largest displays, the Wreath Arch, was converted to LED bulbs this year. The LED lights give the display a whole new look and use less electricity than traditional bulbs.

Here is some more general information about the event:

Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights will be open 5-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday through January 1. Hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be 5-10 p.m.

For vehicles with up to 6 people, admission for the drive-through event is $7 per car at the gate; advance tickets are available at Evansville Ritzy's locations. Admission for vehicles with 7-14 people is $10 and admission for vehicles with 15 people or more is $25.

Horse-drawn carriage rides, including a wheelchair accessible carriage, will be available nightly (except Dec. 2), weather permitting, for $30, which includes admission for up to six people. Reservations are not required for carriage rides. To reserve a wheelchair accessible carriage or for other details on carriage rides, call 812-449-6321.

All proceeds go to Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.
