Students from damaged Ind. schools back in class

Nearly 1,000 students are back in classes a week after severe storms badly damaged two schools near Lafayette.

Students from Southwestern Middle School were greeted with applause Monday as they arrived at Wea Ridge Middle School, where their classes will be held in spare classrooms for at least the next few months. Children who had been attending Mintonye Elementary School are going to a former school owned by a church.

Southwestern student Brett Hartman says he glad to get back into the routine of school after the Nov. 17 storm.

Parent Mindy Doll says she's glad the new classrooms for the elementary students resemble their old room. She says that will help their transition.
