Evansville woman becomes homeowner after newly retired man's nice gesture

Posted: Updated:

Saturday is a big day for an Evansville woman who is about to become a homeowner for the first time.

Rosalind Robinson has put hundreds of hours of sweat equity into her new Habitat for Humanity home on Marybeth Ave. while working two jobs.

Saturday is the home's official dedication.

The build was sponsored by Steve Titzer, who worked as an accountant for 40 years. When he retired last spring, he decided to sponsor a Habitat home instead of having a traditional party.

"What a way to celebrate a milestone event in your life is to do something like that giving back to the community," said Titzer. "I'll say it is extremely fulfilling for me."

Saturday's home dedication for Rosalind is scheduled to take place at 2:00.
