Holly's House is remembering Evansville Police Detective Nathan Schroer, who lost his battle with Leukemia this week.

Schroer was a member of the Evansville Police Sexual Violence Unit and worked out of Holly's House since 2009.

Executive Director Sidney Hardgrave said the father of three and youth minister was instrumental in helping hundreds of sexual abuse victims.

She remembers him for his work with kids.

"He just had a way of making those kids feel like they're the most important think in the world while he was there," said Hardgrave. "They knew he was going to make their needs a priority. Just a gentle soul is how I would describe him."

The funeral for Nathan will be Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Christian Fellowship Church.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery where the fraternal order of Police Post #73 will perform rites.
