Thanks to the Indiana Attorney General's new grant program, the North Posey School District now has money for a resource officer.
The school will get $20,000 hoping to use it to rehire the school resource officer.
School administrators said Deputy Frank Smith has been volunteering in the district since the spring.
The district has seen a drop in necessary disciplinary measures and drug issues since the SRO arrived.
Attorney General Greg Zoeller agrees the presence of law enforcement inside schools is helpful in deterring crime on school property and in the community.
Zoeller has approved 116 grant applications from Indiana schools.
