A Tri-State mother credits a doctor at Deaconess Heart Hospital with helping save not only her life, but also her baby boy's.

Baby Tate is close to seven months old now, but he came very suddenly and almost two months early.

Tate's mom, Jade Cornelius, at just 22-years-old and 33 weeks pregnant, had a heart attack. It took two surgeries to save her and then an emergency C-section to make sure Tate was safe.

His family is from Washington, Indiana and they were so pleased with the care they received from doctors at Deaconess. One doctor in particular is now forever bonded with their family. That doctor is Satyam Tatineni, a big-hearted cardiologist also known as Dr. Tat.

Thanks to him, they say they now have a new outlook on life.

"We're definitely not taking life for granted anymore like we, like everybody does. We're thankful each day that we're here and that she's here and that we have a family," Tate's dad, Collin Cornelius said.

More than six months later, both Tate and Jade are doing well-- though jade does need a defibrillator.

The Cornelius' tell 14 News that they're thankful every day to have their family together.
