Roommate unaccounted for in Jan. murder of Kyle Riley

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

When he was killed on Jan. 30 this year, Kyle Riley lived with two other people at a home in the 4800 block of South Lantana Place.

The home's owner (there's a new owner today) hasn't exactly been forthcoming with information, though he has been somewhat cooperative with Tucson Police.

It's that mysterious third person who remains unaccounted for to this day.

Investigators are reluctant to name that person publicly.

Though he's definitely on the radar and is wanted by United States Marshals and Tucson Police for a series of unrelated crimes.

But none more serious than what happened to 27-year-old Kyle Riley.

"I don't even remember the exact words," says the victim's mother Mary Riley. "But that's when they told me my son had been murdered here this morning."

That was Jan. 30 this year.

Kyle had just moved from Sierra Vista where he lived with his mother to stay with a friend on the southeast side near Kolb and Irvington.

It's unclear if the owner of the home actually witnessed the shooting.

But he did call 911 at 8:54 that morning.

Kyle Riley was pronounced dead just seven minutes later.

"I know there were two people in that home the time my son was killed," Mary Riley said.  "One being the homeowner and the other being the other person that I don't know who it is."

Even though it rips a hole in her heart just being here, "Obviously very hard, knowing this is the last place my son was" -- this grieving mother is absolutely hell-bent on finding the person responsible.

On multiple occasions, she's driven all the way from Sierra Vista to the southeast side to paper neighborhoods with her son's fliers.

"Went door to door" she says, "to hundreds of houses."

Oddly enough many of those fliers were taken down as quickly as she put them up.

Somebody, it appears, has something to hide.

So whether you know something about the murder itself or the person who's constantly removing these fliers on the southeast side, please...call 911 or 88-CRIME.

"It is totally anonymous," Mary Riley says, tears welling in her eyes.  "You don't have to give out any name or information at all.  I want the person or persons that murdered by son to be held accountable for this."
